When a current line becomes a piece of baseball history
History Match discovers meaningful combinations below a player’s or team’s actual performance, then checks the same season or rolling window against verified history. Season-level hitter searches pair daily FanGraphs totals with Lahman/Retrosheet season history, while rolling and game windows use the Retrosheet player-game index. Candidates must be scarce by both occurrence count and season frequency; patterns that recur every year are withheld. Only producer-reviewed claims appear here.

The engine selects interpretable two-stat profiles, searches the requested historical universe, and retains the most recent precedent. Editorial review controls which claims reach this public feed.
